Four Iran movies grab award in Geneva

Lineup of four Iranian movies have brought home prizes from the 13th International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva.

Directed by Mahmoud Ghaffari, 'No. 17 Soheila', which shows a woman in pursuit of getting married, has received Gold Prize of the festival.  

Mehrdad Oskouei's 'Starless Dreams', which was competing in the documentary section of the festival, has been awarded the Gold Prize of this section.  

The film shows some young women in an Iranian juvenile detention center reflecting on the crimes they have committed and the circumstances that have shaped their lives.

Silver prize for the feature films has gone to Ida Panahandeh's 'Israfil', which narrates the story of a woman who has lost her son.

Farnoush Samadi's short film 'Gaze' has won the Silver prize at the short films section of the festival. The flick depicts the story of a woman who learns about an incident on the bus. She cannot decide whether to reveal the issue or not.

The festival hosts a hundred quality films, all genres combined, authors and specialists.

The 13th edition of International Oriental Filmfest of Geneva (FIFOG) was held on April 21-29, 2018.
